How it's measured
Five statements relate to the economic axis and five to the social axis. Each rating (strongly disagree to strongly agree) contributes a positive or negative value depending on which direction that statement points. We total each axis separately and scale it to a -100 to +100 range, then plot the result as a single point on the grid above.

The horizontal axis is economic — left favors more government intervention, right favors free markets. The vertical axis is social — the bottom favors individual freedom (libertarian), the top favors order and authority (authoritarian).
